I live in Palm Springs, in the California desert. Temperatures here can
range from below freezing in the winter to over 120 degrees in the summer.
And we are surrounded by a huge variety of desert flora that have adapted
to thrive in this harsh, extremely dry environment.
much of the year, the cacti, smoke trees, palo verde, and a broad variety
of other ground plants are in survival mode, hunkered down, waiting for
the next drink of water.
But just add a little rain and the entire desert bursts forth in an
incredible array of colorful blooms, vivid in their colors, textures and
diversity. This is a truly amazing sight, and not easily forgotten.
